The 25 was used for trips into Keighley, whilst the trips out were 21, 22 or 23 depending where they terminated. In the late nineties Keighley was served by an extension of the Manchester X43.

There are 4 route variations at either end, but not all buses tend to go between the same pair all day, so it'll be interesting to see how that will work.

They already change number at Burnley Bus Station. Perhaps they'll go back to having the number for the destination, regardless of where it came from? I'm also wondering if the 29 is going to become part of the X43 there.

I'm also wondering if the 29 is going to become part of the X43 there. I think it might be a case that the X43 will extend the journeys to/from Nelson, which run every 30 minutes, to Skipton via Colne. Transdev just tweeted X43 only serving Nelson during peak hours. X43 extended half hourly via M65, Colne & Barnoldswick to Skipton. The 25 between Keighley & Burnley to be renumbered M4. All details now on their website.

The extended X43 therefore replaces 2 journeys per hour on The Mainline between Colne and Skipton. Those journeys on The Mainline now terminate at Colne.
The Mainline is converted to 4 conventional services rather than lots of terminal points mixing and matching. Clitheroe services no longer alternate via Sabden.
Service 8 to Bacup will now be run by another operator.

Confirmation on Trandev Lancs web site of Skipton jouneys now being X43's from 1 May: Mainline - The Barnoldswick-Skipton section will now be served by an extended, faster Witch Way X43 – see below. X43: More buses are coming on the Witch Way, with new fast journeys to/from Manchester at rush hours and we're now going even further - now serving Colne, Barnoldswick and Skipton every 30 mins Mon-Sat. •New fast buses at rush hour... In response to customer research, we'll run 3 quicker journeys each way (Mon to Fri), calling at limited stops between Burnley and Rawtenstall and then completely non-stop to Manchester, Shudehill and then on to Chorlton Street. It'll only take just over an hour between Burnley bus station and Shudehill on these new fast journeys! •Extended to Colne & Skipton via the M65 every 30 mins Mon to Sat... Every other Witch Way journey will now head beyond Burnley, non-stop along the M65 to Colne, Barnoldswick and Skipton. This will mean much faster trips from Skipton and Colne to Burnley compared to now, and the first through transport link from the towns to Manchester for many years. •There'll still be direct buses from Nelson to and from Manchester for morning and evening rush hour, but during the day, Witch Way will no longer serve Nelson - very few people travelled along this section at this time. If you do though, never fear, just jump on Mainline every 7 mins and change at Burnley bus station - through tickets will be available. •Buses will still run every 15 minutes during the day between Manchester and Burnley via Prestwich and Rawtenstall. •On Sundays, all buses will be called X43 for our through bus extension through to Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. The number 872 will no longer be used, although the time and route stays the same.

From Transdev Lancs website
Mainline M1: Padiham (Bridge Inn) – Burnley – Nelson – Colne – Earby – Barnoldswick (the old 22 to Padiham & 28 to Barnoldswick) •every 30 minutes for most of the day Mon-Sat (hourly on Sundays) •Some early morning and evening journeys will continue to serve Silentnight at Barnoldswick.
Service M2: Clitheroe – Padiham (Slade Lane) – Burnley – Nelson – Colne (the old 26 / 27 to Clitheroe & 24 to Colne) •every 30 minutes for most of the day Mon-Sat (hourly on Sundays) •This will run direct from Clitheroe on all journeys, via Whalley, Read, Padiham (Slade Lane) and Padiham Road to Burnley and on to Colne via Brierfield and Nelson. •We will no longer serve Sabden due to low customer numbers - less than two people a journey use the bus at the moment
Mainline M3: Accrington – Huncoat – Hapton - Padiham – Burnley – Nelson – Colne – Trawden (the old 23 to Accrington & 21 to Trawden). •every 30 minutes for most of the day Mon-Sat (every hour on Sundays between Accrington and Colne, and every 2 hours to Trawden). •It will run to/from the new Accrington bus station when it opens later in May.
Mainline M4: Burnley – Nelson – Colne – Cross Hills - Keighley (the old 25). •every 30 minutes for most of the day (every 2 hours on Sundays) •On Monday to Saturday the last bus from Burnley to Keighley will now run later at 2028, with the last bus back also running later, now leaving Keighley at 2211.

I think it's dead obvious out of town services will no longer serve Selby local estates/villages, e.g the 402 will no longer divert through Thorpe village and instead stick to the main road in Thorpe, with the cut section being replaced by one of the new locals.

The 402 is the only one left that does anyway! The 476 (or 150 as was) got pulled from Moat Way and Ferndale Road a while back, apart from a couple of journeys at the start and end of the day, and the 401, 403, 405 and 415 take the most direct route they sensibly can already, and always have done! I did wonder whether they might try to tie in some of the town services as extensions of the 415 - half hourly to Abbots Road, hourly to Brayton and hourly to Wistow should have been workable, requiring 2 extra vehicles on the 415 but saving 2 vehicles from the 7 and 42. I would have thought the extra convenience of direct services to York might have increased ridership and more than made up for the increased running costs. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the new network looks like!

Ah, so only the 402 does a bit of localness, always thought the 4 and 8 did one of the estates on the way out of Selby, and also thought some 405s ran via Abbotts Road as 407s.

Ah, so only the 402 does a bit of localness, always thought the 4 and 8 did one of the estates on the way out of Selby, and also thought some 405s ran via Abbotts Road as 407s. The 4 just runs straight out along Barlby Road, and the 8 runs straight down Bawtry Road but hasn't been run by Arriva since 2013. A couple of 405s run as 407 and divert via Ferndale Road (but not Moat Way), the 0747 (weekday) and 1900 arrivals into Selby, which are at times when there are no town services running, and I wouldn't have thought that is likely to change. Any buses on the 402/403, 405/407 or 476 that serve Abbotts Road do so after arriving at the bus station, and are really just interworking and continuing as a 7, rather than serving Abbotts Road as part of the main service.
