The Grammar School at Leeds are now operating their own school services in house.
Presumably following the recent catalogue of errors since Eddie Brown went out of business they've decided to do it themselves.
It is not known if they are operating buses or coaches so can everyone keep an eye out.

Yesterday I saw an all white President/Trident heading away from the Alwoodley Gates area along Harrogate Rd on one of the GSAL services, think the reg was LR52KXH which would be ex-Metroline originally but more than likely it's already had other owners.

A post on TSY forum says that GSAL Transport have taken over the 5 services that Globe were operating. Has anyone seen any additional buses with GSAL recently?

I had a look at this operation today and noted the following on the 16:10 departures:
LR52KXH GSAL2 Trident all white GSAL legals LR52KXE GSAL4 Trident all white " " LT02ZZU GSAL11 Trident all white " " LR52KVV GSAL7 Trident in Geldards blue, couldn't see the legals on this LR52KWO GSAL8 Trident in Geldards blue, " "
Also on other GSAL routes were KX07HDF, KX08HLR, KX08HLU These are all white B12B's and all three have GSAL legals and GSAL fleetnames. Think I missed logging a couple of other coaches, they all appear at once!
Not GSAL related but also noted the following Tetley's on Rossett/St.John Fisher School services:
X584XKH R61 N745ANE R62 X763XBU R63 P318KTW R64 R558LGH R65 RIL3166 R66 YSV563 F63 N895ENE F64 This must have been returning empty (I didn't notice!) as I think this just operates from Harrogate to St.John Fisher.

In an unexpected turn of events, GSAL Transport are now also operating 3 schools services at Royds School in Rothwell.
These services were previously operated by Globe Holidays (and Geldards before that) and I believe, although never confirmed it, that they were run by the 3 hybrid double decks inter working with GSAL services that they also previously ran.

As a GSAL parent, I have witnessed the comings and goings of operators on the GSAL contract, and I can contribute quite a bit of history. Every single operator that has held this contract recently has subsequently gone out of business: Geldard's held it for a few years, then it was Sandla (Arrive-in-Style), and Eddie Brown Tours. EBT had started with their own vehicles, but when BakerBus folded many of their buses ended up here (still in BakerBus colours, but with fleet names removed and operating "on hire to" EBT). These buses were generally stabled overnight in the school bus bays.
When EBT subsequently went into administration, GSAL legals appeared on several of the buses, but others were transferred to Tates who presumably provided Transport Manager services. It was still usual to see most of the buses on the school campus overnight, though.
Now GSAL has registered a new wholly-owned entity called GSAL Transport Limited, and GTL logos are starting to appear on the buses and coaches. The buses described as being in Geldard's blue are in fact in the school's official uniform colour of indigo. I presume most of the former EBT/BakerBus vehicles were retained by GSAL and are now officially in the ownership of GTL.
I don't get up on to the school premises often, but next time I do I'll try to take the reg numbers of every bus/coach there. There are 11 routes, plus a shuttle between the Headingley and Alwoodley sites, and another between Moortown and Alwoodley, so I'd expect to see a total fleet of around a dozen.

Just following on from that last post I have seen most of the buses on the 16:15 departure today and it's pretty much the same vehicles I recorded in Feb and logged these a couple of posts up the thread.

If they did ask Tates for transport management advice, I'm glad I don't have a child there, 1 because they've been daft enough to rely on Tates to manage things and 2 what's wrong with the business studies department managing the transport side of things, I'm guessing they now have to!

I believe GSAL have now got a number of 16 reg Mercedes coaches.

Three of the new Merc coaches are BF16XPL/XPM/XPO. Don't know if they have a fourth one which logically could be XPN.

I was in the area the other week and noted the same three coaches, so that looks like the 4th one which would fit, may not exist.

Coincidentally I was up at the school last night and was able to record parked up on the grounds:
LT02 ZZU President LR52 KWO TransBus President (on hire from Dawson Rentals) LR52 KXE President LR52 KXH President DL59 GUG Mercedes O813 24-seat minibus KX07 HDE Volvo / Plaxton coach (on hire from Dawson Rentals) KX07 HDF Volvo / Plaxton coach KX08 HLU Volvo / Plaxton coach BF16 XPL Mercedes Tourismo BF16 XPM Mercedes Tourismo BF16 XPN Mercedes Tourismo (yes, the “missing” 4th one!) BF16 XPO Mercedes Tourismo
They are in all-over white except for on-loan LR52 KWO which is dark blue. All of the owned coaches and deckers have GTL logos on the front; on the deckers and older coaches it’s just below the windscreen, whilst the 16-reg coaches have it on a vinyl applied to the top centre of the windscreen. The Presidents also have a GSAL logo below the rear window, and at least one has a larger one on the offside staircase panel. Coaches HDF and HLU currently have a full width ad for a forthcoming open day on the panel below the rear window. The Dawson Rentals vehicles and the minibus are logo-less.

Interesting, I'm wondering therefore if 'XPN' is possibly used on GSAL7 to Harrogate, that's the only route I don't see due to it leaving school grounds and heading off in the other direction (to my location). The other three Mercs are usually on the same services each time I see them.

The buses in this fleet have now all been attributed names following a competition among pupils: www.gsal.org.uk/name-a-bus-competition-drives-pupils-creativity/From my observations today I have so far attributed the following names to vehicles: KX08HLR Daisy BF16XPL Rosie LT02ZZU Petal KV02URM Gertie This last Trident must be a recent acquisition, last time I saw it it was on loan to Tiger a couple of month back.

It basically confirms that the blue tridents were just a stop gap between them taking over the Globe contracts and the new Tourismos arriving.
Looks like the fleet is therefore possibly the original 6 buses, the 4 Tourismos, KV02URM and one other bus
I'm guessing the fleet will now be stable and not change for quite a while.
Is anyone passing that way at school time before the 8th July to try and confirm what the other bus is?

Trident/ALX400 KV02USO was in use on one of the GSAL services today complete with "on hire to GSAL from Dawson Rentals" notice in the first n/s window. It's still in Geldards blue base Colour.
