A driver on the X11 did say they were considering axing the 28B altogether as it isn't bringing in the revenue like the 711 or the X11 which is VERY busy

As it only runs term time, this will actually be a June change.
I barely ever see anyone on the 28B. With the 28 & 92 doing the same route as part of bigger networks, I'm not surprised.

The latest Changing Times leaflet says the 28B has already been withdrawn, it was withdrawn on the 8th May what leaflet? Here's the link to the leaflet. I think Metro did mean the service would stop for the summer whilst the universities are on their summer holidays, as they use the same wording for the 398/399 shuttle service in Huddersfield. Having said that, you would imagine the 398/399 to return in September, it would appear that the 28B won't. www.wymetro.com/uploadedFiles/WYMetro/Content/travelnews/ServiceChanges/PTC_May_infoleaflet.pdf

it looks like it has been given the chop for good that leaves only the X11 and 711 as geldards stage carriage routes though I must say X11 is very busy on a morning

The main delay on the 213 is getting into, round, and out of Batley Town 'loop' I'm on about the first trip of the day starting from Batley at 07:00 ish. I've seen many occassions when the bus came in 20 mins AFTER the 07:07 departure time. That used to leave depot at around 6.30, and it was very rare that I was ever there much after 6.55-7.00 to start

The 268/268A ammendment is Mon-Fri, PEAK, it'll be a 15 minute service with all going to Wakefield, then around 0900, it'll then drop onto current 10minutes between Bradford and Dewsbury, til around 1500ish, and then back onto a 15minute service for the afternoon peak

What? It'll drop in frequency at peak times?? That's what I've been told. At the moment, in peak times, we're still getting 2 or 3 running together. One of the rota reps, has jiggled the times around, so, we'll get 15minutes from Bradford to Odsal, lose 2 minutes to Moorend, but, gain 3 extra minutes to Cleck from Moorend.

What? It'll drop in frequency at peak times?? No it's an improvement on the section between Dewsbury and Wakefield, just where and when Arron/Station will be in competition.

But, they are only running 126 Ossett-Wakefield, so, only compete between bus station and St Michaels church, they're not doing 278

Still seems bizarre to decrease a frequency in buses when patronage is at its highest.
Part of me just wonders why they don't just send everything to Wakefield?

Unfortunately, I don't have the answers to that. I, along with others were told and shown the new timetable the day before they registered it. We'd prefer it to be a 20 minute service between Wakefield-Cleckheaton & Dewsbury-Bradford, thereby giving a 10 minute service where we really need it, the section between Dewsbury & Cleck.

Still seems bizarre to decrease a frequency in buses when patronage is at its highest. Part of me just wonders why they don't just send everything to Wakefield? Not that unusual, not withstanding the fact that the 'peaks' aren't always the busiest period of the day for some bus routes (not sure about this routes loadings on that question). Peaks are the points of the day with the most other road traffic so you need to put in more running time which either means you have extra buses in the fleet just for the peaks or you drop the frequency to do the work with the same number of vehicles. The days are long gone where unsubsidised buses could cover the cost of peak only work just on the peaks, buses cost too much to buy and keep to leave too many of them in the garage for most of the day (there is a bit of room for playing to spread engineering workloads & afternoon school runs to allow a bit of peak work but it depends on the company). Drivers present a similar issue as too much peak only work leads to the need for split shifts with large breaks in the middle of the day which are either very inefficient if paid through or unpopular with most drivers if the long middle break is unpaid (you will normally be able to find a small core of drivers who find splits suit them but they are generally disliked by most driver) so again you want to avoid too much peak only work. There are probably a lot more routes than you think where the frequency steps up outside of traditional peak times both as running times drop back to standard lengths and also to deal with the real peak around 0930 where all the pensioners are waiting for the first bus of the day they can use free.
