Looks like Yorkshire Tiger's matchday buses to Headingley for Leeds Rhinos games will be short-lived. Meanwhile, Harrogate Coach Travel/Connexionsbuses changing times for the X53 (possibly some journeys numbered 653?)

I find this interesting as there is currently already a 653 service from Otley to Bradford via Guiseley, so be interesting see what happens.

I think your right with it being registered as 653 from the start. I was trying to look through the N&P archives to find the original registration to check if I was right.

With taking ages to look through the postings I recall a debate sometime ago about a proposal by Kirklees to withdraw funding from either the Dewsbury or Huddersfield free town bus. Maybe Dewsbury have lost out in the decision making.

If it was being withdrawn we'd already know, it would have been in the local paper.
Let's hope SGI haven't won it or else they might as well withdraw it.

In my posting I stated that it was a proposal by Kirklees to withdraw funding. There was an article in The Huddersfield Examiner last September(around the 3rd if you Google the question) about the possible loss of the FTB in Kirklees. In his posting Penfold asked wether the tender was being renewed or were Tate's running out of money. My postings was to suggest that Kirklees has now withdrawn funding and this is the result.

Huddersfield Examiner from Feb 2015 www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/hope-remains-save-huddersfield-dewsbury-8689100and hopes remain that the free town buses in both Huddersfield and Dewsbury town centres will continue despite budget cuts. The money from Kirklees will still be there until September 1 next year, so there is no panic. There is lots of work to be done but I’m sure one way or another we can keep the free bus, it may be a reduced service but we’re working with colleagues in Metro to keep the free town bus.”

Thought at first it may have been the 951, but looking at N&Ps, Tates are revising the timetable, so they look to be operating it again this year. Also noticed that Ladies Only Travel have had their licence revoked from 24th May, but subject to financial standing being produced, then a warning will be given.

Huddersfield to Barnsley by some random coach company based nearby?
Can't think of any other recent cross border services. Denby Dale to Sheffield perhaps? Dewsbury to Meadowhall? Huddersfield to Trafford Centre?

Holmfirth to Uppermill extending a few times to Oldham? Yeah service 352 isn't it? By eck, I only guessed and hit the nail bang on, had a feeling that because the Pennine way is 50 this year and the Black Hill/Wessenden head section has no public transport access, the people in charge of the Peak District National Park might have thought about funding a service past this way, so I took a guess and was right.

Well done www.buseireann.i- I would give you a sticker if I still had any! An interesting new service - thought they may have numbered it 19 or 20 reviving memories of the old Barnsley - Manchester route run jointly by Yorkshire Traction and North Western in the 60s.
