Does anyone have a clue what's going on at Bradford at the moment?
It started about a week and a half ago with Olympians appearing on a regular basis in front line service, something that hasn't happened very much for many months. This week the position seems to have worsened with cancellations appearing, in the half hour between 4.20 and 4.50 this afternoon I saw cancellations on the 612, 633 & 640, and that was without looking too hard. I know there are the usual glut of roadworks which happen at the end of every financial year and Westfield must be causing problems but even so I would have thought Bradford would have enough vehicles available, even with 32524 off the road.
On an unconnected topic, one of the Eclipse 2's, think it was 69566, has received stripes on it's front bumper corners in blue and white, and red and blue stripes on it's rear end lower offside and nearside, at first I thought it had had a bump until I saw these were symmetrical. They seem to be too small for the start of some form of branding so the only thing I can think of is some safety initiative, can anyone enlighten me?

I asked the driver why olympians are on routes and he said it's to get the usage out of them until dda kicks in...I saw 60851 on 607 today but only one olympian today... Leeds has also had weird allocation buses today too...

Unable to blame the paint shop since Bradford still have disproportionately more which require a repaint into the current livery, I don't think this is a recent problem

They'd press 6220 KW and HKW 84 into service in Bradford if they could! Noticed the 670/671 was mostly B9s today though. Perhaps the Rodley/Calverley folk have kicked off:) Sorry it's not April 1 yet

To be fair I think Bradford is among the better First depot's, I use them every day and it is rare for a bus not to turn up and late running is usually explainable (School traffic/roadworks). We used to see the Olympians out every school holiday but not for a few holidays now although the schools ALX400's do appear on a regular basis.
These strange allocations have only been for the last couple of weeks, it's seems to be almost any bus on any route at the moment whereas I can normally be fairly confident of which bus will turn up on my morning 612 to within about 25 buses and could usually have a fairly accurate guess at which buses are on which routes.

Maybe there is a large number of MOTs due at this time of year, maybe the usual allocator is on holiday?
I do tend to see allocations as being quite well organised usually in Bradford, even with the ALX400s, it's usually more of the normal ones in normal use than the school sign ones although one or two may be out plus you get some boards that run off schools so would have a school ALX400 on as a normal allocation.

Still seems to be plenty of Olympians sat in the yard throughout the day, can't say I've noticed an excess of anything else parked up. Seems to be plenty of overtime on offer at the minute though...
Definitely 69566 sporting the funky bumpers, but I've no idea why!

A Royale has been on 607 today, and a Royale was on the same route on various days last week. As above also noted regular bus cancellations on the 607 route in the daytimes recently.

Well i went on 30791 this afternoon and did notice at least 3x b10s on it.. Def a bus shortage and it seems to be the newer buses like b9s

buses have been in the news recently, will try to post further info & links later... (Telegraph&Argus) BRADFORD is getting more than its fair share of old banger buses, a council meeting hears as they propose reduction in emissions by adapting old buses & establishing a low emissions area in the centre. THERE was also the results of a passenger satisfaction survey. SLIGHTLY more than half choose to travel by bus (if the choice was available) & a slightly increase in those thinking it's value for money.

Strange days indeed.

Still no word on why, but 69566 is no longer on it's own with the bumper repaints. This morning I saw 69568, 69569, 69570 and 69571 all done up the same, plus one more in depot
