Apperley Bridge the first new railway station to be built in West Yorkshire in 10 years has opened today Sunday 13th December 2015 At Apperley Bridge, between Leeds and Bradford, around 50 people gathered on the platform for the first train to Bradford from the new station. The original station closed 50 years ago as part of the Beeching cuts. Its replacement has cost about £8m. Two trains between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square or Skipton will run hourly Monday to Saturday. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-35087153Martin Bairstow was one passenger on the first train from the station and brought the original station sign with him. He took it he said for "safe-keeping" when the station shut. Mr Baistow said his trip had been "something I've been waiting for for 50 years". He had also been on the last train to the station in March 1965.

New shuttles 948 & 949 (TLC) will presumably run right to the front door from local communities.
Services 747 (Tiger) and 947 (TLC) run from Bradford and pass on the main road outside both every hour

The 747 (Tiger) service is one of the Bradford - LBIA services operated by Flying Tigers (also Blue) usually the home of the Scania Omnicities. Yesterday all five boards were covered by 768, 784-787. In my experience Sunday is not the best day to find then out and about,

I don't remember the last time i saw a Flying Tiger bus on the Bradford routes. Usually seems to be a bright orange Tempo.

I don't remember the last time i saw a Flying Tiger bus on the Bradford routes. Usually seems to be a bright orange Tempo. Indeed, in September I planned an itinerary including a ride from Shipley to Leeds Bradford Airport, and it was an orange Tempo instead of a refurb Flying Tiger Omnicity.

Hoping to provide you with an update of the opening dates for KLF and Low Moor shortly. KLF seems to still being built, despite a planned opening around NOW. Low Moor has been further delayed due to "an aircraft-sized" mine working discovery, reported on 1 April. This problem has apparently been dealt with and opening is still going to be later this year.

Anyone any info or developments on a new station at Elland, I'm a little perplexed at the length of time it's taking, lack of progression and the lack of news.

Elland station was one of five recommended "for further study" in the report prepared for Metro by the consultants Atkins in 2014. I'm not aware that any public announcement has been made about any of the five since, although no doubt the matter is still on file at Metro headquarters. It wasn't top of the five (I think Haxby and East Leeds Parkway were considered the most feasible).

Outside Metro's natural jurisdiction, although I get that York wants to be tied in with Leeds. They seem determined to press ahead with East Leeds Parkway no matter what. Elland just seems so obvious to me, a glaring omission, it should have re-opened when the line became a passenger line again in 2000.

Probably east Leeds parkways pushed ahead, due to the whole Electrification of the Transpennine Route Saga. Places like Elland could benefit from a station, the line passes near the Calderdale Way at the bottom of the valley and could be a handy park and ride, for M62 as well. That could even relieve congestion to/ from Halifax.

Haxby is indeed in York. The study was commissioned by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and its remit was for the Leeds City Region; one of the other four stations deemed worthy of further study was Crosshills, which is presumably in Craven. The other station I've not mentioned is Thorpe Park which is on the same bit of line as East Leeds Parkway and it considered these two together as one or t'other but not both.
