This cheaper Megarider means it might be cheaper to make an extra single journey to Hazel Grove on route 192, then buy a Megarider there!

Stuck under a bridge, let the tyre down you never know................ A BUS became stuck under a bridge in Prestwich. The incident involved a replacement bus for the Metrolink line, which was trapped under the bridge in Fairfax Road. Passengers were on the bus at the time, but no-one was hurt. www.burytimes.co.uk/news/prestwich/13877226.Bus_stuck_under_bridge_in_Prestwich/?ref=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebookThe bus has since been removed from under the bridge. It was reversed out after air was let out of the bus' tyres. The incident caused visible damage to the top window and the roof of the bus. Police were called at about 1.50pm, and transport bosses warned commuters that there could be delays due to the incident. A police spokesman said: "A double decker tried to get under a bridge in Fairfax Road and became stuck.

Stagecoach Manchester have just introduced 9 Enviro 400-MMCs on route 34, an enhanced longer but slower version of route X34 from Leigh to Manchester. These differ from MMCs at Sharston for having high-back seating. These are in Stagecoach moquette and not leather.

I have seen this widely publicised since Wednesday 27th April. I am concerned that these will no longer be valid on First route 22 journeys. When my work hours changed I reverted from the online Smartcard to paper tickets. Ho hum .....

Stagecoach will have to communicate with first. Reality I think ticketing in Manchester needs a standard fare set by TFGM for all operators. The 197 is another route I have a problem with on Sundays.

Stagecoach Smartcards will still be valid on First route 22 journeys provided we show a paper receipt of our Smartcard with the Smartcard itself to First route 22 drivers.
Route 197 is Stagecoach all day Mon-Sat and MCT all day Sunday. Stagecoach tickets are not officially valid on MCT even if the route is otherwise Stagecoach.

Bus passengers can expert chaos on the roads on Tuesday as hundreds of bus drivers are poised to go on strike. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/manchester-bus-strike-affected-services-11364872First Manchester drivers at the operator’s Oldham and Queens Road depots have confirmed they will take action for the full day. The walk-out will affect Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford , and Trafford - with FIFTY services either cancelled or reduced. There are 700 drivers at the firm’s two depots in the region but it is not yet known exactly how many of those will strike.

Well since some buses do operate in each other's territory with each other e.g. Some routes will even operated by stagecoach may see additional passengers for example routes such as the 76 may have more people boarding than the usual loads.

Well, I certainly will be one who will be on the 76 on Tuesday as an alternative to the 180/184, unless the strike is called off last minute. The only route that Stagecoach will probably do best on in the absent of First would be the 112/114 and 118 services between Moston and Manchester. They may get some extra passengers on the 76 between Oldham, Garden Suburb, Failsworth and Manchester (although Metrolink may be a faster alternative for some). Salford-Manchester will still be well covered by First with the 8, 36, 37 and V1/V2 services.

Some new Enviro 400-MMCs are entering service at Ashton on routes 216 & 330. I have seen 10578/79/81/85 so far. It seems very rare for new double-deck to be assigned to routes not serving central Manchester, but route 330 is the most frequent such route.
