I am told, from 5th September, that Arriva will be running Tate's tendered runs on the 212, plus the 213 once again. Yes guyarab, I too have heard the same. I've also heard that most, if not all their South Yorkshire routes, are also being withdrawn under emergency measures. Beginning to look like the improbable is turning into the impossible - only time will tell.

You are probably as well looking on alternate weeks for both alternately, as there is quite often a sizeable crossing over between the two.

Tates were using Enviro 1112 and Solo 1182 neither of which could be described to be in even tidy external condition on 213.
Does this mean that the deckers have moved on?

Not clearly visible but apparently the rear bonnet door is dropping off but has been screwed elsewhere to the body so it cant ! Doesn't exactly inspire you to travel on these buses, added to the 'weathered and in service' look and the lack of straight panels on the lower nearside ! Penfold

Now you mention it I haven't seen the deckers for a couple of weeks. They might have joined the 'awaiting repairs' queue in the yard which appears to be that big they cant get the others out ! I believe the deckers are still with them (for now anyway) and used mainly on 213's on daytime services . With regards to timelesstable's post & photo, it would appear to confirm the expected closure of Tates. Think about it, they aren't going to be interested in the continued worsening condition of their rolling stock when they're about to cease trading - makes sense.

Have Tates always been a basket case or was there a time when they were an ok company? If so what has changed to result is such a change in service delivery? Was it the off-shore shenanigans or some other issue - perhaps they tried to run before they could walk by expanding too quickly? Is there potential of a take-over by another company (Yorkshire Tiger immediately springs to mind)?
A shame to see another independent struggle, but if they can't get the basics right they shouldn't be operating.

They still think it's 2003 and that the world has moved backwards and are moving with it. 2). Graham Mallinson, known him for over 20 years - Very shrewd and a good head for the "sharp end of business" and had some good ideas, but sadly his man management skills were very much lacking, if not existent. Last time I spoke to Graham (well over a year ago), he actually conceded that he had expanded too quickly. Personally, I think they have gone well past the point of no return, which is a shame, since in the right hands they could be very succesfull. I believe that most of the rot set in when the off-shore cowboys took over, which suprised me as I thought Graham was not as daft as to be taken in by them........but then every man has his price !

From the 18 months I did, I can agree about Graham's lack of 'man management'. If Graham had left people to do what they were appointed to do, and been less 'hands on', then everything would have run a lot smoother. It was even said that there wasn't really a need for him to come in each day, as with living only 5 minutes away, he could have worked from home, and only be called in when absolutely necessary. This would have made the staff a lot happier, and kept the workplace a happy place to be, rather than one you dreaded to attend.

A couple of Tates Darts which found their way into Wakefield this afternoon looked to be competing for the bus with most dented and most panels which were a different colour to the rest of the bus.
I think that 1521 EJ52 WXD just edged out 1373 Y373 FJN.
The red Scania Omnicity YN04 GMU still carries Red Triangle legals, no sign anywhere it is being operated by Tates.

Y373 is the one with the bonnet dropping off and rather bent panels (photo posted recently). WXD was the one with various lights hanging off the other week along with bent panels. The sign that the Omnicity is being operated by them is usually the A4 destination in the front windscreen. It been like it ever since it arrived ! Penfold

Tates appear to be using an MPD SF04HXN (in all over white with red skirt) this evening. It was sat in Wakefield BS with an A4 piece of paper in the windscreen.

Looks like they are getting themselves back on track again, Globe have taken over some school services so they will probably be using the Hybrid Gemini's on them
