I think Stagecoach is not wanting anything to do with West Yorkshire, the reason that Stagecoach took over Traction was just to get at First in Sheffield through the old Terrier business.

I agree Jack, but First are just as bad they've neglected Rotherham and Doncaster and just concentrated on Sheffield because that's where all the money is. For example on some routes in Sheffield (40/41/42 Halfway-Fulwood and 52 Woodhouse-Hillsborough) First have introduced special offers on them e.g. £2 day saver/ £5 week saver and also cheap singles £1-£1.50. So for £1.50 you have a 40 min ride on a B10BLE or B7TL. While in Doncaster a 20 min ride costs £1.90 on Ex London Volvo Olympian or a B10M!!! Roll on PTE running our buses I say!!!

I think it's a shame that Stagecoach have given up on the Leeds services. This time last year they had 3 services per hour running from Huddersfield to Leeds (X61 and X62) and now they will have none. I used the services quite frequently from Dewsbury - the single fares were cheaper than Arriva and the journey time into Leeds was substantially quicker. They were not underused either, with the morning and evening peak services often quite full. Bad timetable planning was the downfall of the X61 last year, but it seems that as a previous poster has said, Stagecoach don't see a future in West Yorkshire - hence the withdrawal of the X62. Arriva now have a complete monopoly on Leeds to Hudderfield services (with the exception of the X6), which is not good news for the public.
Many of the other services in Huddersfield are also been reduced, and cross boundary services into Barnsley no longer operate as they used to. The subsidised services are passing to other operators too - could the Huddersfield garage eventually be sold off to another operator?

Well Arriva are improving Mondays to Fridays services between Leeds and Rothwell on 443 & 444 with a doubled frequency to every 10 minutes.
There will be a half hourly 444 service which will serve the Wood Lane estate while the 443 will prvide a 10/20 minute service along Haigh Road in Rothwell.
