I rode on 1456 on 268 today. Smells new of course. Got a feeling the interior is not the same quality as the 11xx batch of Wrightbus saloons, but nevertheless, it was an enjoyable ride and the bus had some good acceleration up the hills.

What with all these Pulsar 2s coming to West Yorkshire, hard on the heels of the Gemini integrals at the start of 2012, and incidentally new First Volvo B9TLs, and Leeds has seen one of its most eventful years ever for new buses,

Why is it any different to any other advert? OK, it may not have the same reach and coverage as a prime time TV advert (maybe they're showing it on TV as well), but it will have lower costs in terms of broadcast and advertising fees than a TV advert. Is every business that develops an advert wasting money? No ... if they didn't find advertising to be effective then they wouldn't do it. And given that they've been posting the link on Facebook and Twitter what seems like every 45 minutes for most of the last week, they're certainly hoping that a lot of people will have watched it. Hard to reconcile that with only a few hundred hits, but some you win, some you lose.

An expensive waste of money - or am I being a 'grumpy old man!' I think being a bus operator now is much more than simply running a bus. With the current economic climate as it is operators need to attract as many passengers as possible and need to think outside the box to encourage people to give the bus a try. This campaign is certainly eye catching and with Arriva investing over £12m in new buses its only natural they'll want as many people as possible to know

TBF its no worse than in the days of firms like Yorkshire Rider, who would have launches of new vehicles/routes, on which the sky was the limit in terms of cash. Two that spring to mind were the hiring of the former Swinegate Tram Depot (Queens Hall) for the launch of the black microrider 1870 complete with large light display, and buffet I believe, likewise with the launch of the JetRider coach. Like LJX says, spending a couple of grand on advertising when you have spent £12million on a fleet of new buses, is just like Asda,Tesco, Morrisons etc launching a new range of foods. Nobody complains then. I say all power to AY's elbow for trying to get a good return on their investment

Just the one (1456), For Heckmondwike then. Although they do have two 61 reg example's. I wonder if any of Dewsbury's allocation will be branded up for the 281/2/3 route. That's the mistake on the list. 1456 is on loan for BDOY this weekend, and then should be returning to Belle Isle. Looks like 1456 allocation to Heckmondwike wasn't mistake after all it's still working from there, on the 220-2 group of services today

No complaints from me. Love 'em. Very smooth ride, not noisy, and are a smashin' bus.
