Will 1548 be a 12 plate bus, or will it retain it's booked YJ61 OBY plate? The Dewsbury Bus Museum website suggests it may well be a 12 reg now. A bit odd how this hasn't turned up yet as most of the others were delivered a good number of weeks ago. Other fleets have been getting their deliveries recently such as Arriva NE. would have thought they would finish the AY order first especially when it's only missing 1 vehicle!

Got a text today saying the last day for the last few Ikarus is 11th March. Not the best buses, but will miss them as they add variety. Hope they are out & about on the 11th as I will be going to Dewsbury for the bus museum open day. Would be nice to get a few photos of them.

I've always been happy to ride on them as their old style seating offer comfort they have good forward viewing and plenty of leg room - except 11 and 13 which have virtually none.
I suppose they have to go sometime though.

Might be a deliberate ploy by Arriva so it gets a 12 reg plate, makes them look like they've invested in another new bus (even though it's part of an older order).

I think you'll find that Arriva NE got their new vehicles before Yorkshire. Our Pulsars started arriving back in October and the first of our Geminis were in Heysham alongside some of the early Yorkshire one. Indeed, the entire North East order were out in service before the Yorkshire Geminis went into service. Plus, they use a number of production lines at Wrightbus to built the Arriva vehicles, the entire order could be built at the same time. It could just be a minor defect. Same happened with one of NE's Pulsars. It arrived in January despite the examples around it in terms of registration, body numbers etc were delivered during November.

Just read on a different post the Wakefield Free City Bus will be run by Arriva by end of April, this would this mean they'll be getting a repaint and most than likely used for different service and the MPD used for the City bus ?

I think they'll quickly loose to contract if they put an MPD on it unless its for breakdown cover.

The Solo's are staying as they are and they will more than likely not be putting MPD's on it except in an emergency.

That doesnt matter, it's still got a seat to sit on that's the main thing.

You'd think they would change the livery since metro will be no longer involved?

The Solos will probably just get wheel trims fitted! Although they are due a refurb to be honest!

I hope they don't do anything to them or if they do then they should charge fares to make up the cost of what ever is done. I don't want to contribute my hard earned taxes towards tarting up a bus what only ferries a load of lazy people and oap's around a small town centre for nowt!

But I don't think you will be one of them that gets on at one side of the road, does the full circuit and goes back again into town so they dont have to cross the road.

They do need a bit of a spruce up, they seem to be in a bit of a state atm.

Steady on - I will be one of those citizens in a few years time and I am still paying my taxes! To be a bit clearer, If these buses are tarted up then I'd like fares to be charged for the lazy sods who can't be bothered to walk the 1 mile from the bus station to Ings Road retail parks, this being the furthest distance the free bus travels. For those who have non self inflicted genuine mobility problems, or OAPs, or people who have learning difficulties to the extent they would struggle to find their way around Wakefield, no fare should be charged.

In my opinion i think they could adopt the system that leeds have. 50p per journey, metrocards and OAP passes accepted. Also day and metro tickets.

I agree there should be some sort of charge on these town circulars. It's wrong using funding to take people round town, but then cut it elsewhere leaving some more rural areas with little or no services. Must cost Metro a fair bit every year running the various town buses. They will say they are valid as they are popular, they will be due to them being free! Even at 50p a time there will still need to be a fair bit of money needed to balance the books. They are contributing to obesity by discouraging people from walking
