Blackpool Transport have confirmed the order of ten ADL Enviro 400 City decker's, thus becoming the first operator outside of London to do so. The £2 million pound order will be to "Palladium" spec, as per the Citaro's from last year. The EU6 decker's are believed to be for upgrading the no.9 route. It has also been reported that the batch of ten Centro's are also to be refurbished/upgraded to "Palladium" spec for an as yet unspecified route.

What an inspiring livery!, Talk about spoiling t'ship for ha'porth of tar!. Fair play to BT for being the first operator outside of London to buy the E20 City, but why oh why make them look as dull as ditchwater?

Why BTS are so obsessed with grey or black based liveries I'll never know, surely their buses should be bright and brash to match the image of the town they operate.

Why BTS are so obsessed with grey or black based liveries I'll never know, surely their buses should be bright and brash to match the image of the town they operate. Bang on, wyb, i've always said that. Before the previous MD they had the Metro Coastline colour branded network which looked bright and breezy and certainly introduced a splash of colour to BT's buses. However given the recent economic downturn, and the fact that Blackpool's backstreets are infested with beggars, scrounger's, junkie's, wino's and streetwalkers, maybe the new sombre dark and depressing livery's are designed to reflect this

I wonder if the forthcoming ADL E400s, 411-435, will replace the non standard ex Isle of Man DAFs 354-372 and the six oldest Dennis Tridents?
I have suggested that perhaps these DAFs could go to a third home as school buses with Transdev Harrogate/Keighley, but obviously nothing has been decided yet.
2016 has seen the end of step entry operations with the demise of Volvo Olympians 374-379. To think barely a few years ago early 1980s Leyland Olympians were still in use here.

Even though I don't live in Blackpool I have news of the arrival of ADL E400 orE40D 411-435 with 17 plate registrations. They appear to be replacing the former IOM imports, among them 349-352. Also withdrawn is Optare Solo 259.

From an article in Bus & Coach Buyer magazine, BTS are having another 15 Enviro400 City buses, expected around September/October. 15 more are due for october, initially they will be used on rail replacement services between Blackpool and Preston whilst the line is closed for electrification. After that, they are expected to replace the ex-IOM DAF's. That will bring BTS's number of E40 City's to 50.
