Found this at the bottom of page 26 of this weeks Wakefield Express under the following header:
Buses turn up
Bus firm Arriva will take delivery of 43 new vechicles after an investment of £8M for Yorkshire passengers. The new buses will have been delivered to Arriva by January in a move to modernise the company fleet. Nigel Featham, managing director of Arrive Yorkshire, said "This delivery of state-of-the-art vehicles will ensure that we continue to improve our customer journey experience. "We know what's important to our passengers and comfort and safety is top of their list."

I can't see the 268 getting new buses considering the Enviros are only just over 2 years old. Isn't the 254/255 having capacity problems so could this be the route they're used on. What is significant that this is the largest amount of buses which are of the same type entering service for some years.

Its been stated on previous threads that Selby are to get Dewsburys Lowlanders to replace their Presidents, So assuming this is the case, Then Dewsburys allocation of the new VDL/Gems will probably be earmarked for the 202/203 route. Maybe im wrong, but i wouldnt have thought the 126/7 route would justify full time decker operation, The only time that i have seen Dewsburys allocated Commanders to this route full is at peak times, And the Wakefield allocated Spectras i dont think ive ever seen full at any time peak or off-peak. Add to the fact that its a very frequent service (Is it every 15 mins?.), Then the likeleyhood of full time decker operation seems unlikely. Maybe im thinking totally wrong, But im basing this on what i see on a daily basis. Perhaps the person whom i acknowledge as the AY expert (Timelesstable) might agree, or put me right.

Could well be, Arriva Scotland does seem to have quite an aged fleet, I know they have some newish Pulsars/Omnicities?./B7RLEs, But the vast majority of the fleet seems to be elderly Darts and virtually no modern deckers at all. So even an influx of R/S reg ALX300s would raise the average fleet age profile somewhat. When the Tempos arrived at Cas, It was reported that they would displace some ALX400s to Scotland, but this never happened. As far as i am aware the only transfer to Scotland from AY is an 04 plate Commander from Belle Isle. (Sorry, forget which one).

Penfold Lots of low loaders required to take them that far! Being honest would any operator see these things being an improvement to their fleet, give me an Olympian any day

Again wait and see job !! Penfold

I still cannot see why everyone is convinced that the Olympuses are being withdrawn from the 110, they're not that old and the high-spec interior is surely suited to that route! I don't think the low-height Gemini's will be seen as an improvement somehow, if it happens which I doubt it will!
