From Monday January 11th, Ireland Bridge in Bingley will be closed with services 616, 727 and 729 affected. Services 727 and 729 will be swapped so journeys that currently run as 727 will run as 729 and vice versa. Buses from Bingley will run direct to Wilsden via Cottingley leading to slightly increased journey times. As a result, Keighley & District will be adding an extra bus to the 720/727/729 circuit with around an hour layover at Keighley between arriving in Keighley off 727/729 services and departing for the 720. An extra Dart has been drafted in from Lancashire United as posted by transdevman and will more than likely run in SpotOn livery: Spot on liveried Mini Pointless Dart 651 (V651HEC) has arrived at Keighley recently on the back of a Petty's wagon in poor mechanical condition.

Also affected is service 616 (Bradford - Wilsden - Bingley - Eldwick).
Monday to Saturday daytime the service will terminate at St Ives Estate (where it turns, god knows!), with a minibus shuttle to Ireland Bridge, however to access Bingley means crossing the bridge on foot. Evenings and Sundays, the 616 will divert from Sandy Lane via Cottingley Bar to Bingley and Eldwick with a connecting bus from Sandy Lane to Ireland Bridge.

It's been a long time for this to come to light has it was mentioned in Bradford Telegraph at around July time saying First Bradford had won the tender for the shuttle service it was to be number 9** something.

There was more disruption to the 727/9s yesterday with the closure of the canal bridge on Morton Lane.

The free shuttle minibus is operated by coach firm TravelXpress on behalf of Bradford Council. There's no Metro timetable leaflet and the connections are not shown on the Metro leaflets indeed Metro deny all KNOWLEDGE of who's running it as it's not a registered stage carriage service and redirects enquiries to Bradford Council rather than trying to find out themselves. The shuttles have their own photocopied timetables. But they're not integrated as such and no thought has gone into timetable compilation with the 616 retaining the same evening timetable missing out Wilsden etc and a varying wait at the timing points. There is a connection for the Bradford-Sandy Lane-Wilsden v v route with a bit of a wait.

But if it's a free service?

Don't the Free City Buses still have to be registered with VOSA?

Could be because it's a private contract by Bradford Council rather than a publically run service on behalf of Metro. I know the general public are using the bus but it will be a bit like services put on for university open days or jobs fairs.

Do the likes of Thornes Independant have to register their shopper services like the Holt Park/Killingbeck ASDA ones the do/used to run?
