A very late finish for the drivers then, I'm amazed that Metro actually fund routes until this time.

The 66B timetable is now up. The service appears only to run between 9am-2pm Monday to Friday during termtimes with it finishing later during holiday times. There's a full day service on Saturdays. What is interesting though is late afternoons where journeys seem to be duplicated pretty much. For example, there's a bus at 1608 and 1610 towards Leysholme from Eastgate. The 1608 gets in later at Leysholme than the 1610. It seems understandable on weekdays when buses could go back towards the depot in service rather than run dead. I'm sure the headways could be much better at every 10 mins rather than two bunched up like that. However, why this is the case on a Saturday seems daft. www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/505BF00E-AED3-48E9-B5DB-75640DCD72E1/0/066Bbustimetable.pdf

Surely it would make more sense to run a more evenly timed afternoon service on the 66B, make the short journeys from Leeds to Leysholme run 8 minutes earlier. More timetables up for the 28A, 31, 34, 36, 96/97 (Barnsley), 153, 308/312/313/314/315/316, 376, 606 (TLC), 653, E8 and MC3 28A: The 0731 weekday journey from Albert Road now starts at Halifax Market Street, with that journey plus the 0701 from Albert Road no longer continuing to the bus station. 31: Every 30 mins weekdays between 10am and 2.30pm with one journey starting at Dryclough Lane at 9.40am and the 3pm from Halifax terminating at Godfrey Road 34: Extra weekday journey at 11.15am to Boothtown only. 4.50pm and 5.20pm Saturday journeys from Halifax and 5pm 5.30pm Saturday journeys from Claremount withdrawn. 36: Rye Lane-Halifax section relatively unchanged apart from 4.58pm Saturday journey running 3 minutes earlier and direct to bus station 96 (Tates): Most buses leave Wakefield/Barnsley at 20 mins past the hour, with a journey time of approx. 50 mins. 97: runs weekdays only *From Barnsley: 7.25am, 9.40am, 11.40am, 1.40pm, 4.00pm *From Wakefield: 8.40am, 10.40am, 12.40pm, 2.55pm (3pm school holidays), 5.05pm to Staincross plus 6.56am from Staincross to Barnsley 606 (TLC): *From Bradford: 5.35am, 6.25am, 7.35am, 8.25am, 3.35pm, 4.25pm *From Euroway: 6am, 6.50am, 8am, 4pm, 4.50pm E8:*From Barkisland: 9.25am and every hour until 3.25pm to Brighouse bus station, 4.25pm to Brighouse train station *From Greetland to Brighouse: 7.25am+, 8.20am+, 9.31am then every hour until 4.31pm+, 5.26pm+ *From Brighouse: 8am+ to Greeland then 9am and every hour until 4pm to Barkisland then 5.06pm+, 6.06pm to Greetland + - Starts at/continues to Brighouse train station 5 or 6 mins later/earlier MC3: Extra journeys at 1.20pm, 1.50pm, 2.20pm 28A: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/256E414E-F980-4866-9237-8A458D8E6CC6/0/028Abustimetable.pdf31: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/69A61D8E-8DF1-435F-A163-2A758C52FD4F/0/031_hfx_bustimetable.pdf34: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/673D4472-7EFD-45F9-A46B-B363CB9D1621/0/034bustimetable.pdf36: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/A0EC041E-8F70-4AFF-8FC0-71AB70F5BCC6/0/036_hfx_bustimetable.pdf96/97: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/0B4B054C-68DE-4E22-B355-F190C79F549D/0/096_wkf_bustimetable.pdf153: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/E7952B07-D72B-40A5-9E60-432CB008C0EA/0/153bustimetable.pdf315: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/5BAE1ECA-0975-4A7C-A807-E2BC06FE6245/0/308bustimetable.pdf376: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/088654BB-4F03-4ADA-ACBA-A25BFF7C450F/0/376bustimetable.pdf606: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/96911ACF-A53C-467D-B039-3784FDBC661A/0/606_TLC_bustimetable.pdf653: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/22D5A9EA-7F70-4525-A877-902DAD1A4C23/0/653bustimetable.pdfE8: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/CB2DB87F-2D73-4085-8BCA-B06371E7729B/0/E08bustimetable.pdfMC3: www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/D4357CAE-7613-463F-A825-3DCAC86BFDCA/0/MC03bustimetable.pdf

Presume those late buses will then allow them easy access to the depot at Elland

I also wonder why there is no 557/9 departure between 1715 and 1920?

Arriva Services 135/6
Overall combinded frequency reduced from a 15 min to 20 mins.
However the CT49 Leaflet says the following:
A revised Monday to Friday timetable will be introduced providing a combined 20 minute service between Castleford and Chequerfield. Service 135 will now operate twice per hour and service 136 will operate hourly.
The timetable now available shows them the other way around:
Service 135 operatering hourly service 136 operatering twice per hour.

Talking about buses early morning and late night buses, TLC Travel are extending the 653 with the first journey now at 0550 from Bradford and the last bus back from Otley at 1925
The timetable still has 1 minute turnaround at both ends

Well I've heard of putting your service 10 mins in front of your competitors but never 10 mins behind it!

It has a very long layover at Skipton too so might be timed like that to provide the 7/8 minute frequency between Colne and Burnley

Well I've heard of putting your service 10 mins in front of your competitors but never 10 mins behind it! Competition has never been a large element of Blazefields operations so Transdev are probably aiming to attract custom through their fare deals. Could there be a Skipton-Manchester market ?

Bet Pennine are breathing a sigh of relief though, I don't think their would be too much difference between both companies fares to make people switch in droves to Transdev. Maybe Transdev have identified demand from passengers making journeys from Skipton to various destinations throughout their network, these people of course would be attracted by day tickets. Peak travellers from areas between Barnoldswick and Skipton travelling to Colne, Nelson (e.g for Boundry Mill Stores) and Burnley certianly wouldn't be using Transdev bearing in mind the early finish time from Burnley.

Competition has never been a large element of Blazefields operations so Transdev are probably aiming to attract custom through their fare deals. Could there be a Skipton-Manchester market ? Transdev couldn't do a Skipton-Manchester service if they wanted to because of the 50km EU regulation. It was why the X43 (The Witch Way) got cut back from Colne to Nelson as Colne-Manchester was just over the limit. Competition has never been a large element of Blazefields operations so Transdev are probably aiming to attract custom through their fare deals. Could there be a Skipton-Manchester market ? Get the feeling that Transdev may make improvements to the service if it's popular. Last bus from Burnley is 4.35pm, which doesn't make it ideal for anyone using the Mainline to commute to Burnley from Skipton. The route will be good for day-trippers, who are out using the day ticket for Transdev's Lancashire services. Good range of destinations can be reached on the ticket: Accrington, Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley, Clitheroe, Colne, Darwen, Keighley (not from Skipton though), Manchester, Preston, Rawtenstall, Skipton and Whalley. Also, the East Lancashire Day Ranger bus/train ticket can be used on the service, which they say will be useful for people arriving by train at Nelson, as the service will create the missing train link between Colne and Skipton, which has a campaign re-instating that link.

With regards to Transdev Burnley and Pendle's mainline extention to Skipton running 10 mins behind the 215,I've had a good think and me thinks their trying not to rock the boat with regards to local bus service provision around Skipton. As well as the butchers and garage business assisting with subsidising non profitable routes such as the 210, It could be that some of the profits from the likes of the 215 and 580 go towards this subsidy provision. I'm sure Transdev have knowledge of this happening and so realise that knocking Pennine off of the 215 wouldn't go down too well with residents of Skipton bearing in mind their local route could end up cut back or axed.

With regards to Transdev Burnley and Pendle's mainline extention to Skipton running 10 mins behind the 215 Theres also the Transdev Lancs Utd 280 that shares the route between Barnoldswick and Skipton. At first glance it looks like the timetable was based on an approx half hourly separation from that 2ish hourly service but the return from Skipton is more in direct competition!! Barnoldswick 280 deps 957 1157 1402 1607 1828 Mainline deps 927 and hourly to 1632 1732 Skipton 280 deps 909 1114 1319 1525 1730 1900 Mainline deps 915 and hourly to 1515 1605 1715 1805

I was just in the middle of posting a question but have found the answer! www.wharfedaleobserver.co.uk/archive/2010/01/13/otley_news+(otley_news)/4848472.Reprieve_for_Otley_bus_route/First will continue to run the 33A through Menston at least for the time being. I had noticed that this change wasn't in Metro's Changing Times leaflet and the new timetable had been pulled from Metro's web site. Of course First still haven't updated their web site with details of the changes with only 10 days to go. And the original press release back in November about the 33A change is still up there!

We are out of our county with the Skipton news, but it is interesting. In Skipton you will now be able to observe 4 companies owned by Transdev - the new 29 to Burnley by Burnley & Pendle, the 66 group to Keighley by Keighley & District, the 280 to Preston by Lancashire United & the X59 to Harrogate by Harrogate & District.

Details of the service changes are now on First's websites. "This service will no longer be run by First" is as far as they go.
