Couple of more Arriva changes on VOSA: Times changed on services 212 and 253 and new service. Registration Accepted Starting Point: Chickenley Finish Point: Dewsbury Bus Styation (how they spelt it) Via: Town Street Service Number: 129 Service Type: Normal Stopping Effective Date: 23-JAN-2010 Other Details: Monday to Saturday hourly day time Is the new service a replacement for the Dewsbury end of the old 116 service? sounds like it. Was in the ita agenda but gave the impression they were diverting an existing service.

The 129 Chickenley will require an additional bus looking at the current requirements out of Dewsbury. Arriva might look to interwork it at Dewsbury and use it to ease anything which is currently tight time wise, the 213 springs to mind.
Could this be why 175 keeps popping back.

According to NYCC Burnley & Pendle will be extending their services from Thornton-in-Craven to Skipton. www.northyorkstravel.info/pdf/Service-Changes.pdf(Later edit: Of course B&P do not serve Thornton-in-Craven yet either so presumably its an extension of the service from Barnoldswick. NYCC c o c k i n g up Englands largest County yet again.) So they are competing with Pennine, then?

This move by Transdev has surprised me - it seems as though they are making a bid for the Skipton-Colne-Burnley service run by Pennine for many years. I suppose it easily fits into their 'Mainline' network and probably will not require more than 1 extra bus. I wonder if they are eventually trying to take over Pennine's routes and expand further into North Yorkshire?

Apart from the Skipton Burnley service, is Pennine's network that attractive to someone like Transdev. Pennine operate all of their services on a commercial basis where money made from the rent of land is used to prop up services.

Certainly its out of character with Transdev Blazefields activities to date, on the other hand the Barnoldswick-Colne-Burnley section is already a competitive situation (if highly in B&Ps favour due to the frequency of 3 an hour compared to Pennines 1).

The Calderdale services gained by Centrebus are:
343 Huddersfield to Halifax (planned to be operated by K-Line but still to be finalised) 528 Halifax to Rochdale 531 Halifax to Ripponden 536 & 537 Halifax to Huddersfield via Elland & Stainland (Eves & Sundays) - probably to be worked by Waterloo Depot. 534 Halifax to Northowram 557 Halifax to Barkisland & Ripponden 559 Halifax to Barkisland & Dean Head 560 Halifax to Rishworth & Commons (1 esrly morning return journey) 574 Halifax to Booth & Midgley 577 Halifax to Hubberton 579 Halifax to Hubberton (Eves & Sundays) 832 Halifax to West End
As part of this it is also the intention for Waterloo to take over the K-Line services 241 & 242 (to be replaced at Honley by the 343 workings). Registrations should be going in this week for all this.

Centrebus's and First's 536 will be a combination of the existing 539 service from Halifax to Stainland then as existing 538 route from Stainland to Huddersfield. Similar route to HJC's 536 route, although slightly different in Outlane.
The 528 has kind of come out of the blue because no-one really has mentioned that service until now. Another First link between Halifax and Greater Manchester will be lost following the 562 a few years ago. Certainly would be a trek for Centrebus from its Waterloo depot to Rochdale.
No registrations up yet on VOSA but there is this from Stagecoach Yorkshire:
PB0001423/50 - ANDREWS (SHEFFIELD) LTD T/A STAGECOACH YORKSHIRE, UNIT 4 ELDON ARCADE, BARNSLEY, S70 2JP Registration Accepted Starting Point: Hillsborough Finish Point: Hemsworth Via: Service Number: 20 Service Type: Normal Stopping Effective Date: 31-JAN-2010 Other Details: New service operated under contract to South Yorkshire PTE.

SF07, that registration is for the Hemsworth in Sheffield and not the one West Yorkshire. Stagecoach Sheffield have being the successful bidder for the SYPTE contract for the evening services on First South Yorkshire routes 20/20A, between Hemsworth, South Sheffield and Hillsborough, North Sheffield. It is the Lime Line on the following map: www.sy-transport.co.uk/maps/sheffield_map.htmHTH

The 528 has been mentioned before and they are going to be based at the new depot in Elland not Waterloo.

AFAIK the 528 and 560 are not affected by the January changes The services listed are all involved (including the 528 & 560 early journeys), I completed the registrations and put them in the post tray myself yesterday lunchtime. The 560 involves 2 very early morning journeys as stated in the previous message (3 on a Saturday) at 5-6am.

I imagine that the 528 will just be the 6.57am weekday journey from Mill Bank to Halifax, unless they're doing the first working to/from Rochdale. The 560 will probably be the 5.20am/5.25am and 6.20am/6.25am journeys from Halifax plus return journeys.

The 528 is the entire service, the tendered section is between Sowerby Bridge & Littleborough however in conjunction with Metro, Huddersfield Bus Company will be operating the full length full-day (0640 to 2340) service. The 560 is the 0525 from Halifax & 0550 return (plus 0650 from Commons on a Saturday).

I was going to ask about the 539- I thought it was due to be cut back to a Halifax-Stainland service (which is all it has ever done Evenings and Sundays in any case)

Certain school time journeys goes along New Hey Road instead of Crosland Road. Are Centrebus going to be running this route and 537 & 538?

I though that the Frst cut back was Halifax - Stainland evenings and weekends.

Are Centrebus going to be running this route and 537 & 538? Looks to be the 536 and 537, Evenings and Sunday only, from what dwarfer1979 posted. No mention of 538 or 539

The 538 between Huddersfield and Outlane, and the 539 between Outlane and Halifax have been merged to create the 536 to my knowledge.

however the original plan was for there to be only one bus an hour Stainland-Huddersfield instead of 2
has that changed and if not do we know whether it will be the 536 or the 537?

Are the 53x's commercially operated by First Monday to Saturday daytime, or just on a different contract to the evening/Sunday service?

Some points relevant to the Calderdale changes
2.2. Centrebus have now submitted registration documents and are progressing vehicle purchase and are establishing a depot in the Elland area. The company have registered to operate on the commercial sections of those routes which are part tendered. These are between Halifax and Greetland and Halifax and Rochdale.
2.3. Arrangements have also been made with Centrebus to supplement service 900 with additional off peak trips to retain a link between Barkisland and Huddersfield to compensate for the loss of service 343 which will now only serve Greetland.
2.5. First will also withdraw their commercial service between Halifax and Kershaw Estate Luddendenfoot as most of this route will be covered by the tendered service which extends beyond Luddendenfoot to Booth and Midgley. This will therefore result in a reduction in frequency of service in this area from half hourly to hourly.
2.6. First also advise that, in extracting the resources currently deployed on the tenders, some adjustments will need to be made to other services. This has involved re timing some other commercial and tendered services. The most significant impact of this will be a reduction in the evening commercial service 560 to Rishworth.
