Metro have found less people have access to hospitals by bus: www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/4766055.Hospital_bus_links_are_getting_worse/I'd say the BRI has a decent service, its on a main bus route which serves the Interchange allowing easy transfer to other routes. The LGI and St James both have excellent bus links. However I think Airedale could be better served by diverting the 66 Keighley - Skipton into the hospital grounds.

To be fair it is only a small hospital and I was supprised that the colne bus served the grounds. Stopping outside the hospital gates would be sufficient for me, after all could you see the 42 running around the roads what serve St Jamses? I know this would be highly impractical but even if it were possible it would be pointless because most buildings are within a 5 minute walk of Beckett Street (fair enough, 10 mins if your hapless enough to end up on crutches). The same walking distance applies to Airedale.

In actual fact, Airedale is quite well served. Mon - Sat Daytime there is the 20-25 (dependant on direction it is travelling in) every hour each way, the 78A every hour each way and the 903. On evenings and sundays there is the 66A and occasional 762. The only improvement i can see would be to have more 762's serving the hospital but there is the 903 from Addingham.

Buses run INTO the grounds of Dewsbury Hospital which has very good links from Dewsbury, Bradford, Batley then can get there from Wakefield (212) & Morley (213). There is a bus at least every 10 mins to Dewsbury town centre (212, 213, 282 and 268). I would say u couldn't get any closer to the hospital on these services.

I WOULDN'T say there are less services to hospitals than in the past. BRI has new serviceds 629 to Shipley- 619 to St Luke's. WHAT they're saying is it takes longer than 30 mins which is a traffic problex

But its still only a 30 minute frequency to/from Keighley. Compare that to other towns (like Dewsbury described above) its quite poor. Also, remember Airedale is the main hospital for Skipton and they also get a very poor daytime service in the 78A. Diverting the 66 into the grounds will add around 4 minutes to the journey and from experience the bus more often than not waits for time at Cross Hills so could easily be scheduled in.

Yeah but it's not as if the 66 goes nowhere near, it stops right outside, plus adding a diversion on and then it may affect drivers rosters/hours etc.

Fair point, bus its still a long walk up/down steps which is no good for the elderly or the infirm. Also, some buses used to divert via Kildwick adding a few extra minutes so it probably would be possible to serve the grounds on all 66 journeys.

Depends where you live. There are no direct buses from North Halifax or most of the Calder Valley and Brighouse is only served direct hourly

The extension of the Rye Lane service to Calderdale Royal Hopsital is possibly going to cease soon or be seriously reduced in time.
