Stagecoach Group have confirmed that they have submitted a letter to National Express Group which would see the two companies merge, with Stagecoach owning 60% of the company. It had been reported that National Express approached Stagecoach about a merger, although they have denied this.
It had been reported that should they merge, Stagecoach would take over the operations of National Express's bus and rail services. It has also been reported that First Group have not made any moves since the reported takeover back in the summer.
