FreeTownBus offered to Halifax but not taken up ye

According to the Halifax Courier, Calderdale Council have been offered funding from Metro to help run the a free town centre service, however, they have been stalling on the plans, despite those plans first announced in August 2008 and Metro saying that they offered the funding several months ago.

Calderdale Council have said they are looking at propsective routes and a meeting to decide where to allocate funding for council services will be held later in the month.

Hopefully, some positive news for this service may come in the next couple of months. Perhaps it could tie in with the Calderdale bus changes in January.

I remember hearing about this last year. But Calderdale Council are a bit tight with their money and they don't see the point in running one in such a small town, I think it is a brilliant idea though because HJC could run it.

it can't be much smaller than Dewsbury. Like Dews it can run from Bus stn to rail stn then Sainsbury's then .............dunno what else is nearby apart from Eureka which is nr train stn.

Well as can be seen in HJC Service Changes thread, HJC are taking up more shoppers services so could this mean HJC have got the Free Bus?

There was a piece on Calendar this morning which said that the Halifax Free Bus Service would operate for a 4 week trial period for Christmas

only 4 weeks? Calderdale obviously aren't convinced then....
