I see there have been 2 buses in the First Leeds Fleet carrying thie registration plate K1YRL. Currently carried by a Volvo. What happened to the Scania that carried it previously. Its Yorkshire Rider Fleet No was 8635 but cannot find any reference to it now. I believe it was the only one of the Striders to have coach seats. Did it get a new numberplate or just get scrapped/sold on.

It was the prototype 'Superbus' for the guided busway. Possibly the first bus with Yorkshire Rider to have individual seats rather than the bench sort. All the features were then used in the 8636-55 batch
It was burnt out in 2003 and therefore scrapped

Yes was on the 51 service by Moor Allerton Centre when it was burnt. Yobs had wrapped metro papers around fireworks and set them off.
The driver was almost killed!

32431 plays out in service fairly regular nowadays.
When new it was restricted to one morning & afternoon journey on the same duty in an effort to keep it respectable. Think the reasoning behind it was that should anyone want to hire a decker for a special occasion then First Leeds would be able to provide at least one bus that didn't have etched windows!

I thought this bus was meant to be "special" as it was the first Wright bus of it's kind outside of First London? Seems a silly idea to spend £200k on a new bus and then leave it in the garage whilst 15 year old buses still plod the roads of Leeds.

Nice touch, keeping the old registration, even if I have done a double take when I've seen the "new" K1YRL in Leeds...

Seen K1 YRL quite alot recently, mostly on the 50/50A service. There's a picture of the K1 YRL Superbus in a transport display in Leeds City Library. Saw it today.
