No sign of the Sainsburys free bus operating today, but the Tesco free bus was operating as normal.

If it is TLC, no offence but they'd be better concentrating on fixing and painting some of their fleet rather than spending more money on expanding. On Monday, they had a scruffy 06 plate Solo on the 966 in the Hebden Bridge Metro Connect colours, it sounded more like a Massey Ferguson than a Solo! Not good for the image of public transport. To be fair, Tiger also had a badly sounding Solo running around for a number of days a week or so ago.

There is also a network of 4 services at the Ruth Gorse Academy that will need covering (I believe it's one of those new fangled free schools that will be outside of LEA/Metro control)
They must have been desperate if they've had to use Globe coaches of Barnsley (which is Tates isn't it?)

I'm led to believe that all spare capacity has been used, and they've managed at a push to get all the work covered. If any operator was to hand back a contract then Metro would probably be unable to find another operator to cover it.

Has there been an announcement about the non school services? No not yet. But Metro has the following message on its website: www.wymetro.com/travelnews/busalerts/711/Bus services 711 & X11 not running this weekend12 September 2015 711; X11 Bus services 711 & X11 will not run this weekend (12 & 13 September) due to problems being experienced by their operator. West Yorkshire Combined Authority is speaking to other bus operators about stepping in to run these service

Yorkshire Tiger are taking over the 711 Timetable on their Twitter feed. As expected all morning peak journeys are withdrawn and there is a 3 hour gap at afternoon school time, so they can fit it in around schools. They are also operating some trips off the Bradford uni service which is inventive. I had thought maybe First might have a go as if they'd have extended a 611 once an hour they could have run it with only 1 extra bus. Apparently the 4 services at Ruth Gorse Academy were still being operated by Geldards today. I'm not entirely sure how that would work, but it may be because those contracts would be arranged directly with the school, who wouldn't have the resources to arrange alternatives at such short notice. I wonder who will take over the supermarket free buses, maybe someone more local using more appropriately sized vehicles. Perhaps TJ Walsh or Ladies Only Travel?

I completely understand why they have done it but that three hour gap in the afternoon completely undermines the service. I wouldn't want to set off to the White Rose shopping in the morning and then have no option other than to come home at 1pm or have to then wait until 4pm. Hopefully this will be a temporary measure considering the short notice they have had before taking over.

Hopefully this will be a temporary measure considering the short notice they have had before taking over. They'll be using whatever resources they have free to operate it which appears to be a school bus so it'll have to fit around the existing work. If it proves to be viable then I'm sure the timetable will see the revisions needed for long term operation.

Yorkshire Tiger have also tweeted that they'll be running along the old 711 route and not run via Gelderds recent route change via Chapeltown.
