Personally I'd stop running services in Harrogate when these daft middle class xmas markets are on, then I'd go down the road of blasting for six Harrogate Council in the press. What is it with numpty councils wanting to hold events when their town wasn't built to handle the traffic, bad enough idiots at Leeds Council think a Triathalon affecting a huge swathe of the city is a good idea in June, flaiming clots! Have Harrogate numpties never heard of banning all cars from the centre when such events are on? Just a thought Craig but not running buses when the daft market is on might work out cheaper than a run in with the TC.

craig I just want to compliment you on the great service you provide on the 8 and 38 services in leeds my mother uses the 38 regularly and she always says how reliable the service is its just a shame you don't run other services in leeds like the amazing contribution made on the X98 during the first leeds strike

Just a thought as to why timekeeping on your services may have been flagged but it wasn't on another operator's - it may be that with them running more buses in the early morning and evening, when congestion is unlikely to be too bad even with roadworks and Christmas traffic, their overall %age on time was better, whereas when you're only running buses during the busy time of day, *all* of your journeys get hit by the heavy traffic.
(That isn't meant as a criticism, just looking at why the TC might have arrived at the result they did without going down the conspiracy theory route)

Thanks for the replies. Stevie- they are public servants.... They only work office hours, so don't monitor past 5 or before 9 - in fact one of the monitors from Beverly, once told me he had to be back at Beverly by 5 to finish work every day and started there at 9! Mk2 - many thanks for your comments- we do try our best. As with everyone we have hiccups now and then but we can honestly say we have never parked a vehicle up because we haven't got a driver, or vehicle- something I doubt many others can buseirann- unfortunately that's not an option. We have to roll with it but our big problem in Hgt is nowhere to put spare vehicles otherwise at every driver change we could depart on time by sending a spare bus out. As transdev own the bus station, we can only park one bus there which ends up being a school bus, otherwise that would be late on schools. Asda, when it's most needed - I.e. When conferences or Christmas markets are on, is shut as its used by the vehicles for the conference or market, so there is nowhere in harrogate to keep spares. We don't have the luxury of putting 5 vehicles on the bus station and having a depot 2 miles down the road unfortunately, much as I'd like to!

Councils will continue to hold such events as they are good for the local economy; shops, restaurants etc. No way could cars be banned from the centre of Harrogate as the A61 encircles it. Interesting that the operator who sticks "The Harrogate Bus Company!" on some vehicles has no where in the town to store vehicles at times when they are really needed - maybe time to rip some vinyls off.

Should First rip off all their Leeds, Bradford etc vinyls? They don't have anywhere to leave buses within town centres. Oh no, they just leave them in bus stops because the next driver was late.

I do find it strange that First WY have never been before TC for poor service performance, its dire most days, staff cuts late running and curtailed buses. Look at any part of the day very rare not to see 2 40's running round together yet strangely no bus monitors looking at them...... perhaps bigger envelopes are needed by smaller operators!

On a different point, new to Connections d/d (East Lancs body, think it was SP51AWW ex Stagecoach) on the 1530 X52 journey from Harrogate to Ilkley today. Notice in cab to remind drivers not to go via previous X52 route at Ben Rhydding (low) bridge.

Passed me yesterday on the round about at junction 27 on m62 in their colours with a faded stagecoach logo still visible.

Noted late this afternoon on the X1 at Starbeck was an Optare Tempo - YJ57EHX. It had Stagecoach beachball moquette, so I assume it has passed through their hands at some point.

I hear that HCT are to start running a service thru Follifoot as per the Transdev 70 service.

In fleet news, they have purchased 2 ex First Leeds Volvo B7TL Wright Geminis 32453 (YJ04 FZA) & 32456 (YJ04 FZD) from a dealer stock. They were previously with Stagecoach before putting them up for sale.

They were previously with Stagecoach before putting them up for sale. They were both on Stagecoach East Scotland's disposal list very recently, and HCT have acquired a number of other B7TLs from the same source, so I suspect they have probably come direct from Stagecoach themselves.

When I was in Harrogate a day last week, I notice they were using double decks on one board of the X1 and one board on the X52, is this now a scheduled allocation to use double decks?

X52 certainly. Route was amended in Ilkley to avoid the low bridge at Ben Rhydding so they could use a double decker as 1 journey each way acts as a school run.

Was passed in Ilkley today by what I assume was one of their vehicles (did not get the reg) as the destination had Go Green and White on it. It was dark green with a light green hill like shape imposed on the side, with a narrow white line dividing the two and actually looked modern in comparison to their normal livery, and certainly a big improvement on that they brought in for the X70. I am assuming it is a new livery yet to be branded rather than that of a previous owner.

Photos of it have been on Facebook since last week, on an enthusiast page

Hopefully the branding will be clear - that on the X70s is so thin or dark against the dark green that is pretty unreadable from many angles/ extent of sunlight / distance, although the same can be said of far too many of their destination displays.

Now been branded up as Super 13 with the usual union jack fleetname

I assume the new X70 timetable (found via the Metro journey planner) is wrong, as it suggests no buses via Follifoot towards Harrogate apart from two ...and that Rudding Park to Wetherby has been scheduled at 80mph!! planner.wymetro.com/lts/pdfTimetable/YWAX070Can anyone provide a link to an accurate version?
