Saw A Royale in Halifax Bus Station The other day with a mechanic around it tapping everywhere with a little hammer (E.g. Wheel nuts etc.), I don't have a clue what he was doing.

More Likely to be a Vehicle Examiner, doing a spot check. Loose wheel nuts have a different sound to tight ones.

Yeah it's spot checking, I saw a young fellow do the same on an Olympian in Bradford Interchange before it went onto a school run but this one had a little stick to tap everywhere and signed every detail on a clip board before handing over to the driver.

A sad sight to report yesterday. Possibly 61128 (and i mean possibly) was broken down in the middle lane of Colton Sainsbury's roundabout Also an FTR with its hazards on in Seacroft bus station blocking the FTR stands.

I would say it's either a Bramley or Cherry Row B7TL not a B9Tl has it has white door frames instead of the black frames.

ALX300 460 today however got to traffic lights at birtstall retail centre engine failed 3 times then refused to come back on. eventually got it started after driver banged dash several times! past 720 spectra down geldard road where the back end of it was seen been lifted onto a tow truck. looked like had some damage to the front as was a bit of glass on the ground and a mechanic was inspecting the front grille.

HJOC 21 Failed in Dewsbury Bus Station this afternoon, the driver had backed it off the stand and then it failed.
I think it had just finished working a New College Service.
Judging by what the fitter did with a length of pipe and Fuel can it looked like a criminal sin, Out of Fuel.

It was Castlefords afternoon to suffer, 424 had failed in the middle of Wakefield Bus Station. A rather perplex Arriva fitter was positioning some cones around it.
However a couple of hours later I saw it arrive in Castleford under it's own power.
482 was under tow back to Castleford at Oulton later in the afternoon.

I know the B10BLEs and ALX400s here used to make that noise on the Manchester Road guideway

31146 isn't fitted with guide wheels
I think you've got to live with the fact that the early B7TLs make a lot of noise. The engine and chassis was new and the ALX400 bodywork was an early design of low floor dd, so it's not surprising that they are less refined than later examples

Isn't 31146 a 52-reg though?

Was on Dewsbury's ALX 200 197 today it Brokedown on the 212 because it overheated! Was running 40mins late!!! then finally clonked out at Kirkhamgate we all had to wait for the next bus which was packed. Driver said that it was something to do with ALX 200's that if you have had the heating on in this weather it makes them overheat by the sounds of it quite a few overheated today! I bet the inspector at Dewsbury has had better days

It should be the other way round, if the heating is OFF it should overheat, because the heating takes the heat out of the engine and put's it into the bus!

H751 PVW Broke down at the Tube Club at Wards End in Halifax today, the driver had turned the engine off and gone to toilet across the road and when he came back the starter motor was going but the engine itself wasn't starting, so he rang mechanic and he didn't really know what was up with it, but he got it going after about 20 mins.
